Cross Cut Fordite dial for MHxx movements 28.5 mm (123)

This very unique fordite dial is ready to be installed on an NH movement. This amazing watch dial is showing very fine lines of alternating colors. It was made from two chunks of the same piece of fordite sanded perfectly flat and bonded together. This makes it wide enough to slice the fordite lengthwise, with the grain.  This gives it a very fine pattern and some degree of translucence.  The sunburst pattern is visible from certain angles in bright light. Also, it has some lume powder included in the adhesive so it glows through that very same translucence.  It has a brass back with feet. It is 28.5mm in diameter and 0.4mm thick with a 2mm center hole. Fordite or Detroit Agate is indutrial waste from the paint area from a car factory, when the sprayers miss the car the paint lands on equipment after some time many layers build up and someone has to dispose of the preciouse material we love so much. Instead of throwing it away it gets made into gems, knife handles, shift knobs and in my case watch dials. the final thickness of the fordite for my dials is typically 0.2 mm, it is extremely difficult and time consuming to achieve this evenly and get a high luster polish too. *Made in Colorado USA.*
