Fordite comes in many colors, with unknowable patterns hidden inside. Sometimes a scene is revealed that mimics the environment it was created in, or maybe it is only coincidence. This dial was finished during a very impressive high plains thunderstorm, and the dial resembles that moment in time. Dark sky, ominous clouds, soaked desert soil, a bolt of lightning arcing across the horizon. This singular moment in time is faithfully represented by a unique slice of fordite. There will never be another just like this, with these colors and this pattern. It is unique and will never be duplicated.
The dial was hand made and hand polished. Fordite is a byproduct of automotive manufacturing. Layers of paint are built up on machinery trapping a moment of automotive history forever that is hard as a rock. From slab of raw fordite to finished dial and then working wrist watch I do all the dial fabrication and assembly. Having a day/date window on a fordite dial is rare as it is very difficult to accomplish.
The movement has been modified with a lumed day/date wheel. The hands are prominent enough to be legible without overpowering the fordite. The blue and black tweed strap perfectly compliments the dial. The tweed fabric is lined with leather for added comfort. Easily removing the strap is no problem with quick release spring bars. The case features polished and brushed finishes.
Etched into the case back, “Juxtaposed Watches One of One” as this watch is truly one of a kind.
